Came here for some high quality Indian food and that's what I got!

Visiting England, one thing on my to-do list was to have a nice Indian meal. Why? Because Indian food as I know and love it can actually be traced back to Britain. Mmmmm curries. Who doesn't love Indian food, and where better to eat it than a country where much of what I love about it was perfected?

Came in with a friend and was seated fairly quickly. While there were others in the restaurant, it wasn't bustling. I ordered us a bottle of Malbec, which was very reasonably priced and was up to snuff taste-wise. For food, we ordered a vindaloo, korma, and paneer. All were delicious! The perfect level of spice on each of the dishes-- even though three dishes plus naan and rice is a lot of food, between the two of us we somehow nearly finished it.

Viceroy met my high standards and expectations for a spices feast in York. Even though its outside the wall and main tourist area, I think it's worth a little jaunt :)

I have eaten from all Indian restaurants in york, I would suggest this one as the best.
Amazing food ..cool waiters(no unnecessary pampering)...i would rate it a 5/5..no questions asked..tried everything on menu and it's all classy

I'd give it 3 1/2 stars if I could. The food here is pretty good and ambience is fine. I guess I'm just more of an Akbars kind of guy....

I don't get to eat Indian except when I travel as NO ONE in my family appreciates the cuisine. So, when in the UK I make it a priority to have curry at least once while over. I intended to go to another place tonight but a friend recommended Viceroy and I'm so glad he did. I've come alone and have been treated like  I'm the only customer. My chicken jalfreizi was perfect and the garlic naan went great with it. If in York I would recommend!

Perfectly acceptable. Clean. Good service. Lamb korma was a little on the sweet side.
